Description
Dementia Awareness Event — Understand. Connect. Learn.
More than 400,000 Australians live with dementia, and almost every family will be touched by it—yet most of us are never taught how to understand it, talk about it, or support the people we love through it.
That’s what this afternoon is for.
Hosted by IntenseCare, this Dementia Awareness Event is an afternoon of learning, understanding, and connection—built around the people who know dementia best: those living with it, those caring for someone with it, and the professionals who work in dementia care every day.
What you’ll learn
Hear what dementia is really like—from someone living it. Our keynote speaker shares their personal journey: the diagnosis, the challenges, the misconceptions, and what living with purpose and hope actually looks like. It’s the most powerful dementia education there is.
Put your questions to the experts. Our panel of respected dementia care professionals will unpack how dementia works, what the latest approaches to care look like, and answer the questions you’ve never known who to ask.
Take home practical skills you can use straight away, including:
How to communicate well with a person living with dementia — what helps, and what to avoid
Simple, effective ways to make homes and workplaces dementia-friendly
How to recognise early signs and where to turn for support
How to build communities where people with dementia stay included, not isolated
Connect with people who understand. Meet other families, carers, professionals, and advocates — and discover the local services and supports available to you.
Who should come?
Everyone. Whether you’re caring for a loved one, working in health or community services, living with dementia yourself, or simply want to understand a condition that touches nearly every Australian family — this event is for you. No prior knowledge needed.
Learning that gives back
This is also a fundraising event: proceeds are donated to Dementia Australia to support research into dementia prevention, treatment, and care. So while you’re learning how to make a difference for the people around you, your ticket is helping researchers work toward a future where fewer families are impacted by dementia.
At IntenseCare, guided by our values of Family, Dignity, Inclusion, and Compassion, we believe dementia isn’t the end — people living with dementia can continue to live with purpose, dignity, connection, and hope. It starts with understanding. It starts with an afternoon like this one.
Come learn with us. Seats are limited — book now.
